Google enters the gaming industry with Cloud based service “Stadia”

Google has announced that at some point this year they will official enter the gaming market. They will launch a new streaming platform titled “Stadia”. They won’t be releasing any kind of hardware other than a controller. They will instead use pre existing hardware such as PC’s, Chromecast, and Smartphones/Tablets. The biggest challenge that other services that like this have faced has been bandwith issues. How do you guys think Google will handle this? Will they abandon it eventually like they have a reputation of doing with other services or will they stick to it and become a major player in the gaming industry?

  1. This will be interesting to see- I think it’s tough to see what ‘sticks,’ and what the reception will be. What I’m curious about is their timing in the market, but they might be mitigating those concerns by not releasing hardware. Now, as for which pool of players they’ll draw in– that’s going to be something to see!
