Apple’s New Video Game Service

Apple announced a new video game subscription mode called Apple Arcade on Monday.

The new service allows gamers to play video games all through one service, sort of like the Xbox Game Pass from Microsoft.

The Apple Arcade service will launch with more than 100 exclusive games from studios including Annapurna Interactive, Bossa Studios, Cartoon Network, Finji, Giant Squid, Klei Entertainment, Konami, LEGO, Mistwalker Corporation, SEGA, Snowman, ustwo games and so many others, according to Press Start.

Apple Arcade will be available for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TVs. The product will be available in more than 150 countries as well.

However, Apple Arcade won’t allow you to stream games from iOS devices. It’s basically a subscription service for titles that can be downloaded and installed from the App Store, according to The Verge.

  1. I think this is really interesting, Carina! But I’m also really interested to know how many of us will subscribe– will it be dedicated fans of a particular brand, those who love arcade titles (I’ve got one friend who plays almost nothing but arcade games– so they would LOVE this), or those who are “early adopters”? I know that unless it’s something I’m really dedicated to, I probably won’t subscribe to it (frankly, I should drop some of the services I already have and don’t use!), but it’s interesting to see how many major players are on board! What do we think about this?
